Young Adults

From Wellington Cathedral of St Paul

Our name explains who we are, but with no fancy akronym you may think that the 'Young Adults' group is comprised of a boring bunch of people. Think again. We are a diverse, interesting, enthusiastic, eclectic group of people from university age to early thirties. We have arts students, science students, high flying business people and others engaged in pursuits too complex to explain here. No matter who you are, you are more than welcome and we would love for you to add to our mix of intelegentia.

Our mission: To better understand our own faith and therefore better contribute to our faith community.

Our action plan: Share a meal, ask the difficult questions (and the easy ones) and muddle through life as a group of friends.

Your task: Join us!!! New members are always welcome. You don't have to come to Cathedral services, or be a practicing Anglican. Our only requirement is that you are open to discussion and come with a positive attitude to all that may be said.

Meeting after Evensong on a Sunday (about 6.15pm) we make our way to Chaplain Ellie Sanderson's house. There we share a meal, play with her 3 month old son Zachary, partake in a planned discussion / study time and enjoy each others company.

We divide each month in to a basic 4 sections:

  • Week 1: Social Activity – We head into town and see a movie / share a meal out or just hang out.
  • Week 2: Discussion Week – led by a member of the group, the topic will vary each month.
  • Week 3: Bible Study – we're just starting a study of Ecclesiastes, led by Ellie. Who knows what will come next…
  • Week 4: Further Bible Study.
  • Week 5: (When applicable) another Bible Study session or something else – you'll have to come along to find out what the fifth weeks will hold.
