Cathedral Choir
Director: Michael Fulcher
The Cathedral Choir is an adult choir of 25 – 28 women and men and has developed a reputation as one of the finest ensembles of its kind in New Zealand. In addition to singing at the Cathedral the choir performs frequently in concerts and radio and television broadcasts. In July 2002 the choir toured Great Britain and Ireland.
Recently, the choir has appeared on national television for the live to air Christmas midnight mass (2004), the Tomb of an Unknown Warrior Ceremonies (2004) and the service commemorating the 60th Anniversary of VP Day (2005). On Palm Sunday 2005 the choir performed the St John Passion of J. S. Bach with the New Zealand Baroque soloists to critical and audience acclaim. The choir usually sings orchestral mass settings on Christmas and Easter Sunday. More infomation about music that the choir is singing can be found on the Service Music page.

The Choristers also lead the Sunday Choral Eucharist or Choral Evensong once a month. Each young person learns to work as part of a team and to take responsibility for his or her own performance. Choristers are treated as young professionals and the Cathedral treble programme represents one of the finest musical educations available to young people in New Zealand.
