Wellington Cathedral is part of the Anglican Diocese of Wellington. Situated within the parliamentary precinct of New Zealand's capital city, we are a vibrant and diverse community of people drawn together to worship God through fine liturgy, good music, stimulating preaching and a sense of belonging. I invite you to explore our sacred space.

Welcome! Naumai, haere mai! Ni sa, bula vinaka!

The Very Revd Frank Nelson, Dean

Pentecost and General Synod Service, 11 May

General Synod opened with a powhiri in the Loaves and Fishes Hall at 3pm. A festal and colourful Choral Eucharist followed at 3.45pm. Combined Cathedral Choirs, with NZ Brass, will sing Haydn's "Little Organ Mass". Bishop Tom Brown, host Bishop, preached and the Archbishops preside. See pictures of this service.

Messiaen Concerts

A series of organ concerts featuring mainly the music of Messiaen is offered throughout 2008. Details can be found here.

Tour of England and Paris 2008

The Cathedral Choir plans to tour England and Paris in July-August 2008. We are taking newly written compositions by our own multi-award winning young Composer-in-Residence, Andrew Baldwin. We will be demonstrating that Kiwi choral singing is alive and well, both in terms of new music being written and in the performance of the traditional repertoire for a Cathedral Choir.

In a colourful and moving celebration of the Eucharist people from across the Diocese joined the Bishop in giving thanks for 150 years of mission and ministry as the Diocese of Wellington.
